Assessment

It's been a crazy busy start to the learning year! I can't believe it's March already... where did February go?
In Teina we have been asked to do reading, writing and maths assessments for the kids in our Puna Ako. I have needed to learn how to do all of it which is fine but the main thing is there's just no time to do it!

The maths testing was relatively easy although kids attendance can play havoc with this.. getting kids to do writing samples is ok for some but the one's that need it are not capable of siting down and doing it!... the reading... I just feel too overwhelmed to know where to start! I have asked for help with this but when am I meant to sort resources for this?

I have been supporting relationships and I have done a lot of work around restoratives. I have felt some success around using behaviour plans with 2 of my students.

UPDATE: by the time of the lockdown I had sorted stacks of book by reading level. Giving students a choice of what to read and a choice of how they follow this reading up with a writing task. I believe this was working well.
